Senior HR Advisor
Bridgwater Fixed Term Contract
Senior HR Advisor | 18-month to 2-year FTC | Bridgewater | Hybrid | £45,000 – £50,000

Element Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Senior HR Advisor to join a leading engineering business, supporting a growing workforce on a large-scale engineering project in the Bridgwater area on an 18-month to 2-year FTC. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the operation, building strong relationships with managers and employees, and having the autonomy to make a genuine impact.

The Role
You will act as the dedicated HR contact for your business area, working closely with an experienced HR Business Partner while independently managing your own remit. This is a varied generalist HR role, covering both day-to-day operational HR and more proactive people initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Acting as the main HR point of contact for your designated business area.
  • Providing managers with confident, practical HR advice and guidance.
  • Supporting with low-level employee relations matters, including absence management and performance issues.
  • Supporting managers to become more confident and strategic in their approach to people management.
  • Taking a proactive approach to employee engagement and retention.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the employee experience and reduce turnover.
  • Managing recruitment campaigns from start to finish, including taking briefs, advertising, CV selection, interviewing and onboarding.
  • Working closely with the wider HR team and Head Office.
  • Building strong relationships with managers and employees across the project.
  • Confidently challenging managers and providing guidance where appropriate.

About You
We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor who is confident working independently and enjoys being in a fast-paced, operational environment.
You will have:
  • Previous experience in an HR Advisor or Senior HR Advisor position.
  • Strong generalist HR and employee relations experience.
  • Experience managing recruitment processes from brief through to onboarding.
  • The confidence to work closely with managers and challenge where appropriate.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A proactive approach, with a genuine interest in improving engagement and retention.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and business area independently.
  • You will be someone who is comfortable being visible and hands-on, can build relationships with a varied workforce and isn't afraid to challenge when needed.
  • Experience within construction, engineering, industrial, utilities or another operational environment would be particularly beneficial.
