As the business embarks on its next phase of commercial growth and diversification, we are seeking a hands-on Head of Finance / Finance Director to join their executive leadership team. This role bridges operational and financial control with strategic advisory, playing a critical role in shaping the financial strategy and long-term expansion of the business.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategic Board Advice: Partner closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to establish and execute a 3-year strategic growth plan. Present financial insights, risk assessments, and commentary at weekly Monday morning board meetings.
- Commercial Growth & Expansion: Identify scalability opportunities, build financial models, evaluate contract profitability, and support pricing strategies for new commercial contracts and services.
- Data-Driven Financial Control: Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasting, statutory reporting, and key performance metric analysis for a highly analytical executive leadership team.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor an established, self-sufficient finance and administration team of 3. Oversee day-to-day operations while empowering a long-tenured team.
- Governance & Audit: Maintain strong internal financial controls, manage audit processes, and ensure robust statutory compliance across all operations.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- Professional Qualification: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with proven experience in a senior financial leadership role.
- Strategic Gravitas & Analytical Mindset: Comfortable engaging at Board level, data-driven, and adept at translating complex figures into clear executive commentary without surprises.
- Hands-On Approach: Able to balance high-level strategic planning with day-to-day operational financial management.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated track record of supporting business growth, assessing commercial viability, and managing contract profitability.
WHAT'S ON OFFER
- Competitive Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (Up to £75,000 depending on experience)
- Part-time (0.8 FTE / 4-day week) considered
- Hybrid Working: 3 days in the office per week in Bristol, with parking on site
