FP&A Analyst
Bristol Permanent

FP&A/ Business Partner | North Bristol | £50,000 - £60,000 DOE

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a solutions-driven FP&A Analyst to join a lean, fast-paced finance team where you can truly take ownership and shape commercial performance.

This position is a blend of commercial finance and business partnering, offering broad exposure across the entire organisation. It is an exceptional opportunity for a self-starter who thrives on providing solutions, digging into the detail, challenging inconsistencies, and building strong relationships outside of finance.

The Role:

  • Taking ownership of financial analysis and reporting across a portfolio of projects and business units, ensuring revenue, direct costs, gross profit, and whole-of-life project margins are accurately recognised and reported.
  • Working closely with operational and commercial teams to review project forecasts, investigate unexpected margin movements, and ensure proper treatment of accruals, WIP, and revenue recognition.
  • Assisting the FP&A Manager and CFO with annual budgets, periodic forecasts, financial modelling, and sensitivity analysis to evaluate the financial impact of key operational decisions.
  • Producing monthly management reporting, KPI packs, and dashboards, delivering clear commentary and actionable insights on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Developing into a trusted Finance Business Partner for Business Unit leaders and non-finance stakeholders, translating financial data into commercially relevant advice to drive profitability.
  • Collaborating with the Financial Controller to align project accounting with underlying records and supporting external audit queries related to project revenue and margins.
Your Profile:
  • A newly qualified ACA or ACCA (or equivalent) making their first move from accountancy practice, or a candidate making their second move with a couple of years of commercial industry experience.
  • Strong grounding in financial accounting and revenue/cost recognition principles, paired with advanced Excel skills to manipulate and model complex datasets.
  • A commercially curious problem-solver who proactively identifies and resolves operational finance issues before month-end.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to challenge non-finance stakeholders constructively.
